Getting started

Allow Screen Time access when prompted. Create a blocklist of apps, categories, or websites, then use Focus now or add a recurring control.

An app is still blocked

More than one control can apply to the same app. Check all active controls. A break suspends one focus session; other focus schedules or reached limits can continue blocking the same items.

A limit was reached sooner than expected

Daily limits count combined usage of the selected items for the current calendar day, including usage before the rule was created. Time windows use separate budgets for their hours.

A schedule did not change at the expected time

Open TimeShield to refresh control state. Confirm that Screen Time access is still allowed and check the control for a monitoring error. iOS delivers background Screen Time events and may delay them. If a control shows a registration error, use its retry action.

Changes require a countdown

This pause is intentional. The initial delay is 30 seconds and can be changed in Settings. Repeated break or added-time requests increase the delay.
